Mallemok has an 8-cylinder 220 HP MWM diesel engine and a 3-cylinder Lister generator for generating electricity.
Originally designed and built as a seagoing vessel, Mallemok offers sound, safe and comfortable sailing.
There is plenty of space to move around and her high bulwarks offer extra safety for families. Her interior is finished partly in pitch pine and provides simple but comfortable accommodation. She is a ship for those seeking to experience traditional sailing on an historic vessel.
Mallemok is a comfortable and spacious vessel whether sailing, motoring or when berthed; her strong, sturdy and stable construction enables her to cope with any challenge. Under sail her speed through the water can reach 8 knots, depending on wind direction and speed, tide and current. Her speed record is 12 knots, made when heading for the Kiel Canal in strong winds but also with a huge amount of help from extremely swift tidal currents in the Elbe estuary!
Regarding safety, Mallemok satisfies all the Register Holland stability requirements and all British Marine Coastguard requirements for category 2 vessels: seagoing up to 60 nm from a safe haven or anchorage. This signifies that all safety equipment is in good order and is available in sufficient number.
